REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar National Team (Timnas Amin) stated that supporters are ready to attend the last grand campaign at Jakarta Internasional Stadium (JIS), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta on February 10, 2024, on foot.

“We are finding it difficult to find a bus for this great campaign. But this is not something that prevents, even if it is not part of the bus, AMIN supporters from Jabodetabek and its surroundings will make a long march or walk to JIS,” said Team Captain Amin Azrul Tanjung in a press release in Jakarta, Tuesday (30/1/2024).

Azrul claimed to have received word that a number of buses he had hired to use for the high-profile campaign had been cancelled unilaterally for no apparent reason. In fact, it already pays the booking fee in cash.

He said volunteers would escort Amin supporters on foot toward JIS. Despite the unilateral cancellation of bus reservations for no apparent reason, he added, it would not deter the enthusiasm of Amin's supporters from attending the couple's high-profile campaign number 1.

“Not only buses, Amin's campaign events in the area were also forced to relocate due to the insistence of certain parties. As soon as the plane made it difficult to land, even a new banner put up five hours was already confiscated,” Azrul said without elaborating on who complicated the campaign of Amin's partner.

Azrul, who is also the National Coordinator of the Sun Guard, suspects that there are certain parties that do not want Anies-Muhaimin to be president and vice president for the period 20024-2029. The nuances of such pressure are felt from the nomination, registration to the campaign period.

“This is an uncommendable act, which can undermine the democratic values that have been hard to build together,” Azrul said.

Nevertheless, Azrul is confident that the number one candidate pair will make it to the second round. That's based on the results of a survey showing an upward trend in Amin's popularity.
