REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- LSI founder Denny JA, Denny Januar Ali reveals five reasons he and his organization helped oust presidential and vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. On his social media account, Denny JA claimed to have spoken with Capres Prabowo on the phone for about 10 minutes on Saturday (17/2/2024) evening.
Denny admitted in his chat, Prabowo thanked him for helping him win the 2024 presidential election. Denny also revealed there are five reasons he became Prabowo's political consultant to win this year's presidential election.
First, says Denny JA, Prabowo's election has the greatest chance of winning. “I just saw it. I already have an instinct. Jokowi will in due course help Prabowo, and it is known to the general public,” Denny said in a statement, Sunday (18/2/2024).
According to Denny, in the 2019 presidential election, Jokowi became Prabowo's opponent. He said that if support for these two elections is combined, the vote will be 100 percent of the entire Indonesian electorate.
Denny added that in the 2024 presidential election, when Jokowi and Prabowo join forces, there is 100 percent support. “Let's say 50 percent of his old supporters leave, because they don't agree with Prabowo and Jokowi's cooperation, there are still another 50 percent of his supporters left,” Denny said.
According to him, the support of 50 percent of voters across Indonesia is large, even enough to win one round of the presidential election. The second reason is Prabowo's persistence in getting a mandate as president. Denny claimed to have been following Prabowo's political journey in particular since the 2004 presidential election.
At that time Prabowo attended the Golkar Party convention but failed. Then in the 2009 presidential election, Prabowo came forward as a vice presidential candidate, and again failed. Later in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Prabowo advanced as president. Although, in these two elections Prabowo also lost to Jokowi. Now, Prabowo is again the candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
“The third reason is, “It is now or never. The 2024 presidential election will be the last dance, the last fight for Prabowo. If he loses, then there are no more presidential moments that he can participate in, because it may also be a matter of age,” he said.
The fourth reason that led Denny to vote in favor of Prabowo was because Ketum Gerindra was judged to be the consensus leader. According to Denny, Prabowo has the leadership character needed in this country.
“It's the ability to turn an opponent into a friend. Turn opponents into supporters. We see examples, many, of the generals, activists, and figures who once opposed him, suddenly turning into his supporters. He is also at the center of the political spectrum. He is close to nationalists, Islamists, and minorities,” Denny said.
The last, or fifth, reason is Prabowo's own vision. Denny believes Prabowo wants to make Indonesia the Tiger of Asia and towards the Golden Indonesia of 2045. “I stand by Prabowo with the attitude of a true professional. That is, to give positive ideas. Support him when he is right. But also later reproach him when he is wrong,” said Denny JA.
